Last week, while NOT studying for his ongoing quarterly exams, my son was arguing with me that there was no point in studying textbooks that were not updated for decades. He said, for example, in Ninth standard “Economics” Textbook was talking of VAT and there was no mention of GST — remember, no point in telling a teenager any logic like that you can’t update textbooks for something that happened 3 months back.

As a parent, a blessing from heaven came my way with this news — NCERT has announced it will be updating all its textbooks by early next year and they will even have mention of GST and Demon activities that happened a few months back. Next year, I win his argument once the textbooks have been updated.
